Trader Sam’s “Shrunken Zombie Head” Drink Renamed as Cultural Sensitivity Changes Continue at Disneyland Resort

The popular “Shrunken Zombie Head” beverage at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel has had a name change. Prior to the bar’s reopening on July 2, the drink is now simply called “Zombie”.

The menu on Disneyland’s website shows the new name. This change is likely in line with the series of cultural sensitivity changes coming to the Jungle Cruise. “Shrunken head” props, including the Trader Sam figure, have been removed from the ride at Walt Disney World, and we expect to see the same changes when the ride reopens at Disneyland.

  1. I’m pretty sure the people that shrink heads don’t have access to the internet. Much less that it might be more insensitive to shrink heads in the first place?

  2. I really don’t think this is a cultural sensitivity thing… are we saying ritual beheading is OK in any real world context? I’d bet this is just a weird random change.

  3. Zombies should be offended. Because everyone knows shrunken head zombies are a real thing, right? I mean seriously, who does Disney think that name offended? Serious question…

  4. Won’t all the world’s zombies be offended? Maybe Mindless Brain Injesters would be acceptable.

  5. This is so stupid, how much longer are we going to have to deal with this politically correct bull.

  6. I’d love to know who these people are that are so sensitive what Disney have in their parks. I haven’t read or heard anyone protesting or being overly sensitive to Jungle Cruise or Splash Mountain, just the higher ups in the corporate world of Disney.

  7. How is this offensive?… People need to understand that this was history not something made up to belittle an ethnicity or cloture…. Next thing you know Mikey mouse is going to be call sexist

  8. As someone with a shrunken head, I’m glad Disney realized how it can be upsetting to those of us afflicted with the voodoo curse. Although, as a zombie, I’m somewhat offended that they don’t represent us enough in the park.

  9. Some of this is just getting way out of hand. Who is the term “shrunken head” supposed to be offensive towards? Seriously

  10. Cultural sensitivity changes! Another thing we have to thank during this pandemic. I feel for the kids growing up today because they’re not gonna know what a shrunkenhead was amongst other things so, So just design a new mug that doesn’t look like a shrunkenhead maybe one of the boats.
