The aptly named Tropical Storm Elsa is approaching the islands southeast of Florida, and the cone of uncertainty currently includes Orlando, home to Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort.
As the term “cone of uncertainty” suggests, meteorologists cannot be sure of Elsa’s exact path and when it will make landfall in Florida, if it even does. According to the National Hurricane Center, the uncertainty is larger due to the storm’s potential interaction with the Greater Antilles this weekend. The cone itself only depicts the possible path of the storm’s center, not the size of the storm.
The Orlando area could be experiencing heavy winds from the storm on Monday morning, with the storm itself arriving on Tuesday. There are no currently watches or warnings in place and the storm has not developed into a hurricane.
