The Halloween season is in full swing all around Walt Disney World, and Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is getting in on the fun with a quartet of new sweet treats.
These items are themed to beloved Disney Halloween offerings, including “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Hocus Pocus.”
Sally’s Stitched-Up Whoopie Pie Heart – $4.99
This vanilla flavored whoopie pie is decorated to resemble Sally’s patchwork appearance.
This one was… interesting. The cake was a little dry but definitely had a good vanilla flavor.
They used the right amount of filling, but the flavor reminded us of blue raspberry.
It could’ve been vanilla, with possibly the blue food dye adding an artificial flavor because of how much was used. It definitely tasted like blue raspberry to us. Still, this wasn’t a favorite.
Be-Witching Minnie Mouse Cupcake – $5.99
This chocolate cupcake is filled with cookies and cream and topped with chocolate ganache, a Minnie Mouse chocolate witch hat, and two Oreo cookies.
It’s a pretty cupcake, especially with the polka dot paper.
The cake is just basic chocolate, which was a little dry. The cookies and cream filling is on par with similar treats we’ve had before.
The chocolate ganache is reminiscent of chocolate fudge, while the Oreos were soft.
It tasted similar to the Spooky Ghost Cupcake at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that we weren’t fans of. And like that one, we’d pass on this as well.
Jack Skellington Pumpkin Pie Pop – $7.99
In addition to being very photogenic, this had to be our favorite of the group. The filling is rich and full of pumpkin pie flavor.
It’s the perfect density and a rather large portion for what’s basically a big cake pop.
To finish it off, it’s enrobed in a soft white chocolate candy coating that adds just a little sweetness to cut through the pumpkin pie flavor.
We really enjoyed this one, and we found it would be great to share. We would definitely get this again.
Hocus Pocus “Amuck” Cakes – $7.99
This trio of devil’s food mini-cupcakes is filled with peanut butter and decorated with vanilla buttercream to resemble the hairstyles of the Sanderson Sisters.
We loved how they managed to represent Winifred’s peaks!
It also comes with a candy disc featuring Winifred, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson.
All three cupcakes are filled with peanut butter cream, so if you’re not a fan of the combination, stay away.
Otherwise, these are just standard chocolate cupcakes with a peanut butter cream filling. It tasted strongly of simple peanut butter, but the consistency made it feel like a mousse.
It wasn’t bad, just different. It’s nothing really special, aside from the decoration.
