P & J’s Southern Takeout has a new chicken dinner cupcake trio at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. This unique dessert platter features all the fixings of a Southern chicken dinner, right down to peas, carrots, and mashed potatoes.

P & J’s Southern Takeout is located at Pioneer Hall.

Three cupcakes are included.

Chicken Dinner Cupcake Trio — $9.99

Fried Chicken

Apple Fritter, Apple Pie Moonshine Filling, Vanilla Buttercream

The “chicken” on top is an apple fritter.

Those who like apple fritters will like this; the fritter dominates the cupcake base.

The apple fritter is great and tastes freshly made. This is exactly the Southern fare expected at Fort Wilderness.

The fritter rests atop vanilla buttercream and a vanilla cupcake.

Peas and Carrots

Strawberry Moonshine Custard, White Chocolate Frosting, M&M’S® Mini “Peas”

What looks simple is the best of the trio.

This cupcake also starts with a basic vanilla base.

The toppings set it apart.

It is topped with m&m’s “peas” and strawberry moonshine “carrots.” The “carrots” are great. They are a bit sticky, reminding us of a blend of Starburst and Hi-Chew.

This cupcake reminds us of a treat a family would enjoy on a camping trip.

Mock Mashed Potato

SNICKERS® Mousse Cupcake, Caramel Buttercream, STARBURST® “Butter”

The mock mashed potato cupcake uses Snickers mousse; it does not disappoint.

The caramel frosting is subtle, but good.

The “butter” on top is a lemon Starburst candy.

The Snickers mousse overpowers the base cupcake. If you love Snickers, you will love this.

This was our least favorite cupcake of the group, but still enjoyable.

Overall, this is a unique offering, but not worth a special trip to Fort Wilderness.
