Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom will be closing for its regular refurbishment on January 10, 2022. It is expected to reopen a month later, on February 11, 2022.
As with the attraction’s California counterpart, this is a standard refurbishment that all water rides receive during the winter and will not be the reimagining to turn the ride into a new “The Princess and the Frog” attraction. Splash Mountain closes for routine maintenance every year or two.

Oh no!!! My Daughter is a huge Disney fan, since we took her as a kid… we’ve not been to WDW since 2000 (when she was 6), and the one ride she wanted to ride again was Splash Mountain before they rethemed… she’s going in January – when it’s closed! Just had her crying down the phone… worst of all, she went to Tokyo a couple of years back, and it was closed there too!
This isn’t a re-theme of the ride. It’s going down for a normal refurbishment. No need to worry. Inform her that they are closing it to mainly fix broken elements of the attraction.
