For decades, Mickey and Minnie Mouse greeted guests at the main entrance of Tokyo Disneyland, with lines often building up to two hours just for 45 seconds with one of the two beloved characters. And after almost three years, the beloved duo will finally return to the main entrance, where dedicated greeting spaces were built as part of the entrance renovations from 2018 to 2020.
Guests will be able to meet either Mickey or Minnie starting January 17 on the Main Street House side of the entrance plaza. The two have not met guests since March 25, 2019, coincidentally the day the resort’s 35th Anniversary “Happiest Celebration” ended, due to the construction on the second half of the entrance commencing later in May. Although work was completed on the entrance in April 2020, the entrance greetings did not return with the park in July 2020 due to social distancing measures.
Guests wishing to meet Mickey or Minnie will be able to do so from 11am to 4pm, but a win through the Entry Request lottery system will be required. If the system is anything like other character greetings, guests will be able to select a two-hour window to enter for, and may only choose one window per day. If the “request” is denied, they may not enter for another time for the rest of the day. Character greetings are excessively popular at the Tokyo parks, particularly for these two, and walk-up opportunities to meet the two main mice would be mobbed almost instantly.
Incidentally, this will be the first time Minnie Mouse has appeared for guests to meet in her standard outfit since March 2019, as all other greeting locations, including and especially Minnie’s Style Studio, feature special outfits.
