Sony Pictures has pushed back the release of “Morbius”, the next installment in their Spider-Man universe of films, an additional two months to the beginning of April, another in a long string of delays for the film originally supposed to release in 2020.
Starring Jared Leto and based on the Spider-Man villain of the same name, the release of “Morbius” has been pushed to April 1, over two months after its previously scheduled released on January 28. The film has suffered several release date changes, originally set to open in July 2020 but delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for reshoots, and now concerns surrounding the omicron variant of COVID-19, according to Deadline.
Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius, played by Jared Leto, attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil—or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges? The new anti-hero flick is directed by Daniel Espinosa. Also starring are Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal and Tyrese Gibson.
