Here’s a fresh look at the progress of the ongoing reimagining of the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland.
Demolition continues on the project, which forced the closure of Starbucks, Sugarboo & Co., and Earl of Sandwich.
A new open grassy area will provide a space for guests to relax. There will also be space for events that will be held in Downtown Disney.
Disney Parks Experiences and Products President Josh D’Amaro announced the project at Destination D23 back in November.
The project, as you can see, is still in the demolition phase.
Several crew members can be seen operating excavators in the space.
The concept art above shows the plan for the finished project.

What did any of this mean?
Both Toontown and Downtown Disney plan large grass areas, will grass hold up being trampled on 365 days a year and about 12 hours a day? I just see grass dying and dirt patches because of the conditions. Doesn’t Southern CA have drought conditions yet we’re planting grass fields to get trampled on?
