Schmoozies! in Disney California Adventure has some new shakes and an affogato available for the spring.
There is a berry-vanilla shake, chocolate-peanut butter shake, and chocolate-peanut butter affogato.
Berry-Vanilla Shake – $8.99
Berry Rainbow Sherbet Shake with Whipped Topping, Fruity Cereal and Vanilla Crème Sandwich Cookies
This is lighter than you would expect, likely because of the sherbet in lieu of ice cream.
It’s tart and yet creamy, with a definite flavor of Fruity Pebbles — a generic fruit flavor.
Aptly, it is topped with Fruity Pebbles.
Overall, it’s a fine shake but not the best on offer at Schmoozies.
Chocolate-Peanut Butter Affogato – $6.49
Chocolate-Peanut Butter Ice Cream with a shot of Espresso
This is a hefty one. It’s just coffee poured over a scoop of ice cream, so the consistency varies from sip to sip.
Sometimes, you get a lump of ice cream, and sometimes, you get the thinner, liquid coffee.
Other times, you get a big dollop of peanut butter or a tiny melted chocolate candy.
Despite the grab bag of textures, the flavor is spectacular. The ice cream is rich and peanut buttery, with just a hint of chocolate to give it sweetness without overpowering the peanut flavor.
The dark roasted coffee complements this perfectly, leading to a wonderful afternoon pick-me-up treat.
Chocolate-Peanut Butter Shake – $8.49
served with a Peanut Butter and Chocolate Sprinkle Rim with Whipped Topping and Peanut Butter Drizzle
This is similar in flavor to the affogato, but blended with milk to make it creamier and easier to drink.
That said, it is somehow not as fun as the affogato. The flavor is less present and, without the coffee, the roasty characteristic is missing as well.
It feels like a muted version of the affogato.
For someone who wants a ton of sugar but no caffeine, this would be your option. But for anyone who can handle a little coffee kick, opt for the affogato.
