Prosperity Bao & Buns is a staple food booth for the Lunar New Year Festival, located at Disney California Adventure. But for the 2023 festival, this booth unfortunately lost the Mickey Chinese Hot Dog Bun (though it remains at the festival; available at Bamboo Blessings!) but it received a new pizza bao bun to make up for the loss!

*NEW* Pepperoni Pizza Bao Bun – $9.00
served with Marinara
These were supremely unpleasant. The bao buns come two to an order, which is two too many.
They’re crispy on top and soggy on the bottom, and the lackluster ingredients inside are surrounded by an overly sweet dough.
Then these bao are swimming in a boat of marinara sauce, making it all just a mess and unpleasant to eat.
This seems like a bad idea from the get-go, and it lives up to the expectation.
This is the kind of thing that gets theme park food made fun of. We know they can do better.
Char Siu BBQ Pork Bao – $9.00
Pickled Red Onions and Jalapeño
The bao includes Chinese BBQ pork with pickled red onions and jalapeño, but we seem to be missing the jalapeño.
The bao itself was light and soft, which is the right consistency. The pickled onions added a bit of spice but are easily picked off if those aren’t your thing.
The pork had a good char-siu flavor and was a generous portion, given the size of the bun. The pork was also tender and easily flaked apart.
Overall, we liked this, but it was not outstanding.
Peach Yuja-Ade – $6.50
Yuja-Lemongrass Purée, Dragon Fruit & Peach Syrups, Lemon Juice and Butterfly Pea Flower Tea, garnished with a Lemon Wheel
This is a beautiful, two-toned cocktail. It’s perfect for Instagram and surprisingly tasty.
The bright purple from the butterfly pea plant is unflavored, but the orange mix on the bottom is flavorful. Mixing them together dilutes the sweetness if you want to cut the blast of sugar.
The orange part is tart, sweet, and has a hint of herbal flavor, likely from the Yuja.
Soju Peach Yuja-Ade – $16.00
Soju, Yuja-Lemongrass Purée, Dragon Fruit & Peach Syrups, Lemon Juice and Butterfly Pea Flower Tea, garnished with a Lemon Wheel
This is the same drink as above, but with the addition of soju.
The soju gives it an extra layer of complexity and cuts a bit of the sweetness, making it even more drinkable.
With or without soju, this is a delicious drink that is sure to delight everyone at the festival.
Lychee Celebration – $15.00
Gin, Prosecco, Lychee Syrup, Yuja-Lemongrass Purée and Grapefruit Juice, garnished with an edible Purple Orchid
This one is too much. It’s just a cup of sweet with hardly any flavors to register.
The slight grape-like flavor of lychee is present but instead is overwhelmed by the sweetness. With an aftertaste almost like cough syrup, we will definitely be avoiding this one in the future.
