The Mardi Gras season here at the Universal Orlando Resort is full of glitter and beads, but if you’re a fan of all things spooky, follow the fog up to the second level of CityWalk and step inside the Cursed Coconut Club. The Cursed Coconut Club is the latest overlay to hit the Red Coconut Club and is the perfect place to soak in some creepy vibes with a specialty cocktail or mocktail. So let’s step in and see what awaits us.
A foggy cemetery at the entrance creates the perfect setting for a night in the bayou. If these look familiar, then you must have visited the Nettlewoods Cemetery last year for the Graveyard: Deadly Unrest scare zone. Doesn’t it feel nice to see a bit of Halloween Horror Nights during Mardi Gras? And yes, there is fog!
As you enter the Cursed Coconut Club, you’ll be welcomed into a dark and eerie voodoo parlor.
Welcome to the Cursed Coconut Club! And what an entrance. This is the kind of Mardi Gras celebration we’re talking about! The voodoo vibes are strong already. If you step through the red curtains on your left, you’ll enter into the parlor and find the first bar.
The Madame’s Rouge Parlor is one of three bars inside the Cursed Coconut Club.
It’s quite lovely in here, but let’s go a little bit further into the darkness.
There’s a dance floor in the center of the main room and at 9:00p.m., the DJ typically arrives and the music and vibe change. If you’re looking for a party atmosphere, this is the place to be later in the evening. If you’re looking for a more mellow, chill vibe, hit up the lounges early in the evening.
There’s plenty of space to lounge and relax in the Cursed Coconut Club.
“Can I ‘bayou’ a drink?”
Skeletons and tarot cards decorate the walls on one side of the room.
On the other side of the room, there is a second bar with a stage.
Animated tiki masks in neon colors adorn the wall, but the truly eerie faces are the more subtle ones that blend in. But it gets better (or worse, depending on how you feel about tiny dolls).
There is an entire wall of tiny little voodoo dolls, and if you get close enough, you may even hear them talking to each other.
Should you dare to continue to explore even more of the Cursed Coconut Club, the Baron’s Shack is located right upstairs.
The decor around here is so lively.
Things are a little darker up here. Masks, skulls, bottles of elixirs, and more decorate the walls and shelves. There’s even a skull chandelier.
You may recognize a few items from previous Tribute Stores and Boutiques. Doctor Samedi seems to have returned from last year’s All Hallows Voodoo Boutique.
The glowing green fireplace might be my favorite part of this room. It looks amazing! There’s plenty of seating up here, too.
If Doctor Samedi isn’t available, be sure to have a bartender whip you up a special concoction.
This is the third bar in the venue. All three bars have the same menu, so if the downstairs two are crowded, we suggest heading upstairs.
A pair of chairs off to the side make a nice place to chat. There’s also a balcony where you can enjoy a view of the crowds below.
Sitting in this lone chair would be a great way to ditch the rest of your group or possibly make a nice photo op. The choice is yours!
Menu
The menu contains a variety of cocktails and mocktails. You can read our full review of the cocktails here.
The Cursed Coconut Club will be open on select nights from 5:00p.m. to 1:00a.m. now through April 16. There is no cover charge or age restrictions. Parking for CityWalk is free after 6:00p.m., so this is a great way to get out and do something fun in Orlando even if you’re not visiting the theme parks. If you’re visiting Universal Orlando during the Mardi Gras season, we highly suggest you stop by and visit the Cursed Coconut Club!
