TikTok user @matthungryagain solved the mystery of the interface ports on the sides of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride vehicles.
The ports are on the sides of the vehicles, next to the openings that guests step through to enter and exit.
In Matt’s video, he recounts how he recently got stuck on the attraction at the unload platform when guests could not release their restraints.
A Cast Member made a phone call, then went to each row with a box that plugged into a port. When the Cast Member flipped a switch on the box, the restraints in that row released. So at least one function of the ports is to override a glitching restraint release system.
TikTok user @aly.nova commented, “There’s also a port on the front bottom of the vehicle to turn on the rotating mechanism too if you’re stuck in a turned position too”. Cast Members may use the same or a similar machine to plug into that port.
