To help celebrate the Disney100 anniversary event, the artists of the Walt Disney Animation Studios have created a unique piece of art to celebrate the company’s history. The piece is titled: “Time Flies: Celebrating 100 Years” and only 100 of these prints will be available for purchase.
Disney100 Artwork Released for Celebration
To celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary, the artists of the Walt Disney Animation Studios Ink & Paint Department have created a one-of-a-kind piece of art using traditional ink and paint techniques. Each cel was hand-inked and hand-painted using Disney-approved acrylic colors, and was based on an original drawing by legendary animator, director, and Mickey Mouse aficionado, Eric Goldberg.
This piece of art is a tribute to Disney’s rich history and the talented artists who have helped to create it. Only 100 of these prints will be available for purchase.
Disney describes the piece as follows:
In “Time Flies: Celebrating 100 Years,” Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse take to the skies above the past and present Disney Studios to honor the 100th anniversary. With the background evolving from black and white to vivid color – just as Disney’s films did – Mickey and Minnie soar over the 100 years of Disney history depicted by three iconic buildings that have been the home of Walt Disney Animation Studios. Their flight begins over The Hyperion Studio, where Mickey and Minnie were first created, then over the Burbank Lot, built after the success of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” and then finally pass over the iconic “Hat Building,” the current home of Walt Disney Animation Studios.
The print is now available at Disneyana at the Disneyland Resort and will be arriving soon to Walt Disney World Resort galleries.
Disney100 Anniversary Celebration
Across almost all six resorts and on a global scale, Disney is celebrating “100 Years of Wonder.” This celebration is the largest event ever thrown by The Walt Disney Company. The heart of the celebration takes place at Disneyland Resort, as it is “The Place Where it All Began.”
The party kicked off January 27, 2023, and is expected to last through July 2024.
At Walt Disney World, Disney100 will mostly be celebrated at EPCOT with Mickey and Minnie in their new platinum outfits. A new Spectacle of Light will debut on Spaceship Earth, and in late 2023, a new Disney100 nighttime spectacular will replace EPCOT Forever. This show was brought back after the end of Harmonious in early April but has only returned as an interim replacement.
In addition, multiple attractions including Journey of Water, CommuniCore Hall and Plaza, World Celebration Garden, and Dreamers Point featuring the “Dreamer” statue of Walt Disney are all scheduled to open in late 2023 at EPCOT.
During the Disney100 celebration at Disneyland Resort, guests can enjoy Wondrous Journeys at Disneyland and World of Color – ONE at Disney California Adventure. Disneyland has also received a platinum Minnie statue for the occasion.
