This June, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood plan to throw an anniversary bash for one of Universal’s most beloved franchises: Jurassic Park. Here’s what we know so far.
Jurassic Park Anniversary Celebration
Theme park celebrations, as well as exclusive film and new 90s-inspired nostalgia products, will be hitting retail throughout the year to celebrate a franchise 65 million years in the making. Highlights include specialty food and merchandise outlets as well as limited-edition anniversary branded merchandise.
As part of Universal’s marketing plan to get everyone excited for the event, a faux Jurassic Park training video set in the 1990s was recently released for the first generation of InGen scientists. The video featured Mr. DNA as the narrator.
Anniversary at Universal Orlando Resort
Jurassic June celebrations at Universal Orlando Resort include specialty food and beverages, exclusive merchandise and a takeover at the Tribute Store.
In addition, a new complimentary “Jurassic Park” Universal Orlando Resort Annual Passholder magnet is currently available as part of a month of UOAP benefits.
Studio Styles is the new entrance to the Universal Studios Florida Tribute Store. The highly themed store is redecorated each season for a different Universal IP or holiday. This summer, a Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary Tribute Store will come to the space. The store’s theme was first teased with a metal ladle in a window, referencing the iconic kitchen scene from the first “Jurassic Park” film.
Anniversary at Universal Studios Hollywood
Universal Studios Hollywood will also be joining in the celebration. At this California location, specialty food and beverages, as well as exclusive merchandise will be available during Jurassic June.
Anniversary at Universal Studios Beijing
To celebrate the franchise’s anniversary, Jurassic Traders in Universal Studios Beijing will have a new Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary product available this summer.
Jurassic Park and Jurassic World Attractions at Universal Parks
Universal Orlando Resort
The three main “Jurassic Park” and “Jurassic World” themed attractions at this resort are located in Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Jurassic Park River Adventure, which floats visitors through the park on a boat to encounter various dinosaurs, Pteranodon Flyers, a kids-only journey above the skies of kiddie area Camp Jurassic, and the newest addition to the park — Jurassic World VelociCoaster are located here. This exciting coaster takes guests on a journey through the velociraptor paddock at Jurassic World, featuring appearances by Chris Pratt as Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing.
Universal Studios Hollywood
At Universal Studios Hollywood, Jurassic World: The Ride features a combination of screen effects and audio-animatronics. This ride is similar to its Orlando counterpart, taking guests on a tour through Jurassic World. At the ride’s climax, guests come face-to-face with the impressive Indominus Rex animatronic. Check out our POV video below.
Universal International Jurassic Park and Jurassic World Experiences
There are many instances of “Jurassic Park” and “Jurassic World” themed attractions found globally as well.
Universal Studios Japan
At Universal Studios Japan, a mirrored clone of Jurassic Park: The Ride opened with the park in 2001, and a flying coaster called The Flying Dinosaur lets guests experience the thrill of soaring above the skies with a Pteranodon. It’s often described as one of the most intense coasters at any Universal park.
Universal Studios Singapore
Universal Studios Singapore features a unique take on the Jurassic Park River Adventure attraction, with a circular raft system similar to Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, instead of boats. There’s also a short Pteranodon Flyers-like attraction called Canopy Flyers. This attraction is suitable for all ages.
Universal Studios Beijing
At this resort, two completely original attractions were created for the park based on the newer trilogy. Jurassic World Adventure is an indoor dark ride which takes guests on a journey through Isla Nubar complete with an animatronic dinosaur chasing riders. Jurassic Flyers, another available attraction, takes guests on a soaring journey above the island. This version of the ride is much more thrilling than the versions found in Orlando or Singapore.
