The Walt Disney Company is celebrating its 100th Anniversary with the release of collections themed to each decade of its existence. We’ve previously seen merchandise from the 1920s through the 1940s, now it’s time to celebrate those swell years we call the 1950s! Featuring properties like “The Shaggy Dog,” “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” & “Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color,” this new collection is now available at the Disneyland Resort.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Ear Headband – $39.99
These ears celebrate the heritage of the classic 1954 film “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” which later inspired attractions at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, and Tokyo DisneySea to some extent. The ears are a copper color similar to that of the Nautilus submarine, with two porthole-shaped ears even decorated with rivets. The left ear has a hatch which opens to reveal the Nautilus, while the right doesn’t open but does show the squid.
On the back side both have squid tentacles, while the right-hand ear has a Nautilus symbol.
On the band, which is made of faux leather, is a Disney100 decades plaque.
Cinderella Lenticular Loungefly Mini-Backpack – $88
This very busy design features Cinderella at the very center in a lenticular print, which means it changes depending on your perspective. In the print, she’s transforming from her servant’s clothes into her beautiful iconic ballgown. She’s surrounded by the Fairy Godmother casting her magic, as well as Jacques, Gus Gus, two of the mice, Bruno the dog, and Major the horse.
A design of her carriage sits atop the lenticular.
On the back are off-white straps along with a silhouette of Prince Charming’s castle and a color design of her pumpkin-turned-carriage.
“The Wonderful World of Disney” Youth T-Shirt – $31.99
This purple shirt features the title marquee of “The Wonderful World of Disney,” which was the title of the Disney anthology program from 1969 to 1979. We see the fireworks bursting behind Sleeping Beauty Castle as Tinker Bell introduces the show. The shirt is purple and the sleeves are ruffled.
“Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color” Hoodie – $64.99
Done in a distressed black denim style, this hoodie is actually made of regular fabrics and only printed to look like denim. It features the logo for “Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color” on the front, the name of the Disney anthology program from 1961 to 1969, but perhaps the most iconic of all.
On the back is an advertisement featuring Walt Disney and Professor Ludwig von Drake inside an old-fashioned TV set, reading “Every Sunday evening, step into Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color.”
“Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color” – $34.99
This simple tee depicts the logo for “Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color” with a line art of Sleeping Beauty Castle in the background.
Sleeping Beauty Castle Button-Up V-Neck – $59.99
This button-down marks the transition from black-and-white to color television, with half of Sleeping Beauty Castle in each section.
The back side reads “The Wonderful World of Disney,” the show’s title from 1969 to 1979.
“The Wonderful World of Disney” Crocs – $64.99
These Crocs both depict the color version of Sleeping Beauty Castle.
On the left foot, we see the “Wonderful World of Disney” logo, while the other has Tinker Bell.
“The Shaggy Dog” Plush – $34.99
Based on the classic 1959 film starring Fred MacMurry and Tommy Kirk, we see the beloved Old English Sheepdog here in plush form with a hat and coat on, signifying Kirk’s transformation into a pup.
The plush is sold in a Disney100 Decades bag.
