The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a series of lands at Universal theme parks around the world. Nearly identical Hogsmeade lands are in Universal’s Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Studios Japan, and Universal Studios Beijing.
Hogsmeade features Hogwarts Castle, with the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride inside. All versions also feature the small roller-coaster Flight of the Hippogriff, which was a re-theme of Flying Unicorn in The Lost Continent at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.
In 2019, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure opened at Hogsmeade in Universal’s Islands of Adventure. It replaced Dragon Challenge, which was a re-theme of The Lost Continent’s Dueling Dragons.
Currently unique to Universal Orlando Resort is Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida. This land recreates iconic London buildings and the secret wizarding shopping street magically hidden behind them. Here, guests can ride Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts.
With the opening of Diagon Alley, Universal Orlando Resort also introduced the Hogwarts Express, which is a ride but also transportation connecting Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure. The experience is different in each direction of the train.
Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley also include the Ollivanders Wand Shop experience, shops like Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, Borgin and Burkes, and Honeydukes. For restaurants, The Leaky Cauldron is in Diagon Alley and The Three Broomsticks is in Hogsmeade.
Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees perform daily in Diagon Alley, as do puppet performers who re-enact “The Tales of Beedle the Bard.”
Universal Studios Japan recently introduced a slate of new Magical Creatures greetings around their version of Hogsmeade. Guests can meet a Hippogriff, baby dragon, Niffler, and Pygmy Puff.
