Today during the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District board meeting, Glen Gilzean revealed a new logo for the board, to aid them with public recognition.

Glen Gilzean, leading the board meeting for the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District today, discussed the board’s interest and work towards their goal of “honest and open information” in order to “deal with misinformation.”
After meeting with a Disney Springs restaurant owner for feedback, Gilzean revealed that their work together on this concern produced a new logo to help identify the district to the public.
The logo features an orange tree in front of a yellow sun, and includes the full title of the new district.
Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Takeover
Earlier this year, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law that allowed the state to take over operations of the Reedy Creek Improvement District functioning around the Walt Disney World Resort.
The new law renamed the district to the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District and consists of a board appointed by DeSantis. The law requires the board members to be Florida residents who have not worked in the theme park industry within three years.
The Florida Governor elaborated, expressing that he felt the 100-year-old Walt Disney Company had lost its way. His hope seemed to be that the appointed members of the newly-formed Central Florida Tourism Oversight District might be able to help advise or steer policies that shape Disney’s future.
“I think a lot of families have had really great experiences many times, but, when you lose your way, you’ve got to have people that are going to tell you the truth,” answered DeSantis. “We hope they can get back on [track]. I think all these board members would very much like to see the type of entertainment that all families can appreciate.”
DeSantis also declared that the “corporate kingdom will come to an end” and there was a “new sheriff in town.” He doubled down on the law being a response to The Walt Disney Company opposing Florida’s “Parental Rights in Education” bill, which was virally known as “Don’t Say Gay,” referencing the California-based company’s attempts to “inject sexuality and impose agenda” in Florida. He stated these are not the values the state wants to promote and emphasized the “safety of students and rights of parents” as well as treating Walt Disney World the same as other Florida theme parks.
The first meeting of the new board was on Wednesday, March 8. Among the board members are District Administrator Glen Gilzean, Chairman Martin Garcia, Vice Chair Charbel Barakat (replaced Michael Sasso), Bridget Ziegler, and Ron Peri.
