Construction walls are finally down at Villain-Con Minion Blast at Universal Studios Florida, revealing new details never seen until today.
First Close-Up Look at Villain-Con Exterior
Various promotional posters line the future entrance to this attraction, with depictions of the supervillains who comprise the group known as the “Vicious 6.” Since the story revolves around this building hosting a convention, the villains are advertised as live featured guests participating in question & answer sessions, autographs, and special appearances inside.
Bratt, El Macho, Vector, and Scarlet Overkill each have their own photo ops. Here, El Macho is promoting a fictionalized “Explosive Q & A” at 4 p.m. in Hall M — perhaps this is teasing a portion of the attraction story itself?
“So Much Fun, It’s a Crime” — Balthazar Bratt invites you to “meet the villain behind the hairspray,” with signed Bratt dolls apparently on offer at Booth 191.
Scarlet Overkill, the world’s first female supervillain, announces her return to Villain-Con.
Meanwhile, Vector Perkins is promoting what appears to be a documentary on his life and successes.
The screening of “Oh Yeah!! The Victor Perkins Story: How to Live Your Life with Direction and Magnitude” is teased as an evening treat for convention-goers.
In addition to the four villains seen above, there’s a plethora of other themed signs dotting the perimeter.
Frankie Fishlips is signing copies of his autobiographical “rise through the underwater underworld,” if you can make it — the experience is being operated on a bring-your-own-snorkel basis.
Unfortunately for Professor Flux, it looks like everyone will eternally miss out on the retrospective that happened yesterday in this humorous little joke. Perhaps not as timeless as originally hoped.
These double doors with access to the interior Minion Blast experience are gated off, though the fact that anybody can walk this close to the attraction indicates a large amount of progress has been made throughout.
The side is also partitioned from public access, but construction walls are being replaced with more casual barriers.
The Villain-Con International logo is prominently displayed.
Villain-Con Minion Blast
Belle Bottom, Jean Clawed, and the other members of the Vicious 6 will join guests aboard Illumination’s Minions at Villain-Con. Visitors will “blast their way to supervillain stardom.”
Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast is a moving walkway stand-through shooting attraction. The attraction was developed in partnership between Universal’s award-winning creative team and the filmmakers from Illumination. This interactive blaster game experience invites guests to compete against each other in hopes to join the franchise’s most dastardly supervillains.
The experience will utilize screen technology, gaming interactivity, and physical sets to create a unique, game-based adventure. Guests will put their villainous skills to the test in these immersive environments, where they’ll spot nefarious evil-doers and mischievous Minions from Illumination’s films. The attraction promises to allow guests to interact with these characters in a whole new way.
Villain-Con Minion Blast will be part of Illumination’s Minion Land on Illumination Avenue, also including the pre-existing Despicable Me Minion Mayhem and upcoming Minion Café, Bake My Day Eater, and Pop-A-Nana Popcorn, among other new offerings.
Recently, a Minion Café mobile pick-up window was spotted, along with newly themed trash bins and other added details as this entire Production Central area of the park transforms into the world first introduced in “Despicable Me.”
