A corner of Fantasyland at Disneyland has gone dark as three iconic attractions — Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride — are all closed for refurbishment this month. With their refurb efforts kicking off this week, walls and scaffolding have gone up around the area.
Peter Pan’s Flight, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, & Alice in Wonderland Closed
Walls have gone up around the large eastern show building of Fantasyland at Disneyland. This entire area is home to three classic dark ride attractions – Peter Pan’s Flight, Alice in Wonderland, and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. All three attractions have been part of Disneyland since the 1950s, and are housed in the same show building.
Given that Peter Pan’s Flight will be closed through June 29, longer than the other two, there’s a bit more in place. The attraction has its own separate signage as well as scaffolds up out front.
We could already see workers walking around the scaffolding, presumably to touch up the exterior while work goes on inside as well. This of course isn’t unique to this area of Fantasyland, there’s currently work underway on the Red Rose Taverne exterior just across the way as well.
Walls are not currently up around nearby Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride despite it also being closed. Cast Members were in place with a pin trading board and some games.
Over at Alice in Wonderland, it’s the same story. Although part of that queue remains exposed, but Cast Members stand guard outside to give the bad news.
The attraction’s marquee is outside the walls.
Guests can also still spot Cheshire Cat in the rockwork to the side.
Alice in Wonderland and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride will be closed through June 16, so guests only have to wait about ten days to experience these classics again. But the ride will re-close on July 5 for an as-of-yet undetermined length of time. The Disneyland Monorail will also close on this day, as well as Soarin’ Around the World across the esplanade at Disney California Adventure.
Meanwhile, the transformation of Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has begun over in Critter Country.
