IAAPA Expo No Longer Giving Press Badges to YouTube Creators Without Blogs

The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) will not give IAAPA Expo 2023 press badges to YouTube content creators who do not have an “established online blog.”

IAAPA offers complimentary credentials to press/media/influencers who cover the attractions industry and meet certain criteria.

Here are all of the changes to this year’s press credentials rules:

  • YouTube content creators without an established online blog are not eligible for press credentials.
  • No media can attend IAAPA Expo 2023 outside the approved IAAPA-managed program.
  • No children permitted as part of the press program
  • An enforced maximum of 2 credentials per outlet

A huge swath of theme park fans cover news only through YouTube vlogs, so this rule update essentially bans them from the event unless they also run a website.

Influencers from Twitter or Meta platforms must have a minimum following of 25,000 and an engagement rate of 5-6%. TikTok influencers must have a minimum following of 200,000 and an engagement rate of 10%.

Meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee receiving credentials.
