Refurbishment Begins at Soarin’ Around the World in Disney California Adventure

Flights have been grounded at Soarin’ Around the World in Disney California Adventure as a short refurbishment has begun.

Soarin’ Around the World closed starting on July 5. It’s now scheduled to reopen on July 15. The ride takes guests on a simulated hang-gliding journey across some of the most iconic landmarks and natural wonders of the world; including Mt. Kilimanjaro, the Taj Mahal, and the Eiffel Tower. With the help of a massive curved screen and state-of-the-art technology, riders are lifted into the air and suspended in front of the screen, creating a realistic sensation of flight.

Scaffolding has been erected along the exterior of the show building.

In other areas, brown tarp has been put up to conceal the work being done.

With this only being scheduled as a 10-day long refurbishment, we expect it to be general maintenance and upkeep efforts only.

Other upcoming Disneyland Resort refurbishments include Alice in Wonderland and the Disneyland Monorail. Alice in Wonderland will actually be closing for a second time as it closed briefly this month with Mr. Toad’s Wild ride and Peter Pan’s Flight in Fantasyland.

The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure was also just closed for a short refurbishment. Meanwhile, Splash Mountain permanently closed on May 31. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is expected to open in late 2024.
