On a recent trip to Tokyo DIsneySea, we tried a 40th anniversary special, a Mango and Passion Fruit Sparkling Drink served with a Gelatoni reusable souvenir sleeve, on the menu at Miguel’s El Dorado Cantina.
When we arrived, we queued up to order.
We queued up to order; there was a separate price for the drink alone on the board (¥600, or about $4.05) than the amount we paid for the drink with a seasonal Gelatoni reusable souvenir sleeve (¥1450, or about $9.78).
To help with traffic flow, merchandise purchase tickets were handed out to people waiting to buy the drink with the reusable sleeve.
Gelatoni Reusable Souvenir Sleeve with Mango and Passion Fruit Sparkling Drink – ¥1450
We didn’t have to wait long! We got our drink with Gelatoni reusable souvenir sleeve.
Each of the Gelatoni sleeves comes individually wrapped.
The wrap came with a package insert instead of a long tag with care instructions for the wrap.
When we took it out of the package, we noticed right away that the soft fuzzy 3D face of Gelatoni stands out against the sleeve.
The backside of the reusable sleeve has the “Autumn Storybook” logo on it. This sleeve is part of a new merchandise collection at Tokyo Disney Resort called “Duffy & Friends Autumn Storybook.” According to the Official shopDisney Japan website, the collection features “Duffy and Friends enjoying the beautiful autumn scenery of Cape Cod.”
When we stick the wrap together with its removable hook-and-loop closure, it made a fun addition to the drink we came to try. The drink is part of a collection of specialty food and drink introduced to celebrate the resort’s 40th anniversary this year; adding the souvenir sleeve made this a combo we didn’t want to miss.
Mango and Passion Fruit Sparkling Drink Review
We didn’t find the drink sweet enough to our tastes. We loved that it had mango and passion fruit pulp mixed in with the sparkling water, but we really missed a sweeter note in this beverage. We liked the clear mochi in the bottom of the cup but thought the drink would be better with classic tapioca instead. Overall, we liked it, but we were hoping it had a little more sweetness to bring out the flavor of the fruit and hit the spot on a hot day.
