After being temporarily closed yesterday due to issues with their air conditioning, Gideon’s Bakehouse at Disney Springs is closed today while the shop’s entire A/C unit is being replaced.

Gideon’s shared the latest update on their Instagram Story last night, citing that the store temperature was still pushing 100 degrees Fahrenheit despite the store being closed, ovens off, and temporary portable A/C units in place.

Hi. This update is no fun, but here we are. The temporary portable AC units are not adequately cooling the store today. The shop is empty with ovens off, yet the temp is still pushing 100. The fried AC part is out of stock until late September, so the next stage is to completely replace the AC unit, which was installed only a few months ago! Given that it’s the size of a car, it will take some planning. Please send positive thoughts to the universe that it can get done tomorrow night. In the meantime, Gideon’s at Disney Springs will likely be closed on September 1st. Everything will launch tomorrow per usual, but Gideon’s at East End is the only game in town until we’re back on track. 100+ degrees is impossible for my team, my desserts, and you.

Thank you for understanding, and my greatest apologies to the many people visiting from other parts of the world with Gideon’s as an important part of your trip. I hear you, and failing you causes unpleasant emotions in me. My team is pushing every option. I promise we are doing our best for you all.

The specific part that was “fried” on their air conditioning unit is out of stock until late September, so the store’s only choice is to entirely replace the unit — which had only been installed a few months ago, according to their Instagram Story post.

The Gideon’s Bakehouse location at East End Market in Orlando is still open today, and is launching their September offerings as planned.

No word was shared on if the closure would continue through tomorrow, but stay tuned for updates.

Gideon’s Bakehouse is a popular quick-service cookie and coffee shop in The Landing section of Disney Springs. It’s usually open from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. with long lines of guests hoping to try their unique and giant cookies.

Each month, Gideon’s offers a limited-edition cookie and collectible menu. This month’s new cookies are the Lemon Poppy Crumb Cookie and the Orange Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookie. For today, the only place you can try them is at the East End Market location.
