Haunts recently materialized at Swirls on the Water at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World Resort to try the new Haunted Mansion Cone introduced for the Halloween season — but does the treat do enough to make them leave happy?
Swirls on the Water is located on the Marketplace side of Disney Springs.
Haunted Mansion Cone – $6.49 (Available Sept. 1 – Oct. 31)
Pistachio and Purple Cheesecake Soft-serve in a Black Vanilla Cone with a Hitchhiking Ghosts Chocolate Medallion
The soft serve tastes incredibly artificial, with the purple cheesecake flavor tasting more akin to general fake sweetness than anything related to cheesecake. The pistachio soft serve is comparatively better and less artificial, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s great.
The soft serve is far from the strongest on the Swirls on the Water menu; we would recommend the normal pineapple (or basically any other) DOLE Whip flavor before we would recommend this one. The pistachio flavor has promise, though it’s bogged down by the cheesecake pairing; it would’ve benefited from being paired with a normal flavor (perhaps pineapple, though that admittedly wouldn’t have fit all too well with the Haunted Mansion aesthetic).
The chocolate medallion on the top is cute and makes for a decent photo, but it’s not earth-shattering by any means. It’s just white chocolate with an edible picture of the hitchhiking ghosts printed atop it. It’s a nice piece, it just doesn’t save the overall underwhelming dessert.
The cone itself is fine, but the treat is quite messy. The soft-serve started melting almost immediately after we started holding it.
The cone is unique in appearance, but to us, there’s just nothing special here. We think it’s safe to skip this one.
The Haunted Mansion Cone was introduced as part of the Halloween menu at Swirls on the Water alongside the DOLE Whip Sampler and an Apple Cider Slush with Pumpkin Soft Serve.
