The official Disneyland website lists that “no times [are] available” for “it’s a small world” starting on October 23, with the rest of the month blocked out after that day. On every other day between now and October 23, the attraction is listed as available from 8:00 a.m. through either 11:00 p.m. or 12:00 a.m., depending on the day.

Disney confirmed that the holiday overlay of “it’s a small world” would be returning in 2023 in June. The seasonal overlay debuted at Disneyland Park in 1997 and frequently introduces new elements to the attraction; last year, dolls in wheelchairs were added to the ride for the overlay.

This year’s closing date roughly coincides with the date from one year ago, as “it’s a small world” closed at Disneyland Park to receive its holiday overlay on October 24 last year. It reopened on November 11.

“it’s a small world” was built for the 1964 New York World’s Fair and debuted in the Fantasyland section of Disneyland Park in 1966. An attraction now synonymous with Disney Parks and Walt Disney Imagineering, the boat ride promotes messages of unity and acceptance as guests see dolls depicting children from around the globe singing “It’s a Small World,” a song written by the Sherman Brothers.

Versions of “it’s a small world” were opening day attractions at Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Park in Paris. A version opened at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2008.
