We spotted some new details added to San Fransokyo Square in Disney California Adventure to help immerse guests in the world of San Fransokyo from “Big Hero 6.” From community bulletin boards to advertisements to colorful Baymax lanterns hung around the land, San Fransokyo continues to receive new updates that help the world of San Fransokyo feel alive.

New Details at Aunt Cass Cafe

These colorful lanterns hanging from Aunt Cass Cafe add a colorful touch to the exterior of the building.

As we got closer, we saw that the colorful strands of paper lanterns were printed with Baymax’s face.

The paper lanterns are electrically wired, so presumably will be lit at night and create a colorful glow to the buildings in this area.

More Lanterns at Child Services

We also noticed this row of lanterns at the Child Services building.

These lanterns are white, but are also wired like the ones we saw at Aunt Cass Cafe. If lit at night, the themed lights will create another focal interest point in the new land.

On the interior of Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop, we saw these new details added to the walls of the building.

The posters have Japanese and English writing.

The English and Japanese on the posters are advertising the same products. Some calls to action or comments are written in English or Japanese, such as this one that says the sundae is full of deliciousness in Japanese.

There are also posters advertising Ghirardelli chocolate squares.

More New Details: Posters, Bulletin Boards, & Newspapers

Outside of Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop, we saw this seating area has received some framed newsprint displays.

The lettering here says “SF News Paper.”

The newsprint behind the large red lettering is a full front page of “San Fransokyo Tribune.” There are several articles written on this newspaper. Some articles are written in English and others are written in Japanese. There are advertisements printed here that we see elsewhere in other new details in San Fransokyo.

Outside of the bakery tour exit, this new Community Announcements board caught our eye.

The board is packed with individually designed posters set within the world of San Fransokyo.

Some of the articles relate directly to the characters or events from the film. This poster advertises a storytime with Baymax at the San Fransokyo Public Library.

Other new details on the posted signs are not related to the events in the film, but help create a feeling of realism to San Fransokyo.

Still other art features the characters from “Big Hero 6” being appreciated by the community, which lends to furthering the temporal world in which the movie is set.

SFScommunitybulletin13

We spotted this message board hanging in an outdoor seating area across from Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop.

SFScommunitybulletin14

Similar to the announcement board above, this space is full of designed art for businesses, events, and activities that exist in the world of San Fransokyo.

Though we find out that betting on bot fighting is illegal at the beginning of Big Hero 6, we learn that the popular sport itself is perfectly legal. Here, we see an ad for a nightly bout.
