A new Pirates of the Caribbean tavern is being developed for Magic Kingdom, featuring the return of Peg-Leg Pete, also known as the Barker Bird that was once stationed outside the attraction.
Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge
The news was shared during today’s “A Celebration of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” panel at Destination D23.
This new experience will bring a Pirates-themed lounge space to Adventureland in Magic Kingdom, extending the story of the attraction, and bringing back Peg-Leg Pete. Previously, the parrot used to greet guests at the entrance of Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom. Peg Leg Pete stood at the entrance from when the ride opened in 1973 until the 2006 update that added movie characters.
Imagineers are currently in the design process for this new experience, and more details are set to come in the future.
Tortuga Tavern
Currently, there is a quick-service tavern already in Adventureland themed to Pirates of the Caribbean, dubbed Tortuga Tavern. Here, guests can get a variety of American fare from savory turkey legs and hot dogs to peanut butter, chocolate-hazelnut spread and banana sandwiches and orange chicken strips.
