“Stranger Things” is popping up all over Halloween Horror Nights 32, from merchandise in the Tribute Store, a haunted house, and themed food and beverage offerings. At the ’80s themed Stellar Bar near the Universal Music Plaza, guests can enjoy some throwback and punny items like the Cheddar Jalapeño Hellfire Club. (Get it?)

*NEW* Cheddar Jalapeño Hellfire Club – $13.99
Jalapeño cheddar bread with shaved pork shoulder, crispy potato sticks, spicy mayo, pineapple chutney, and muenster cheese
This cleverly-named sandwich is in reference to the Hellfire Club D&D group from “Stranger Things 4.”
The Cheddar Jalapeño Hellfire Club is surprisingly okay. It’s quite salty, but it’s worth it for just the bread, which has embedded jalapeño and is grilled on both sides. The potato sticks and sauces are also a nice touch. The pork is juicy and tender.
This option feels more like a substantial meal in comparison to the sweet and snacky offerings at Halloween Horror Nights 32, and the portion is large enough to share. If you’re looking for something more filling, this might be the ticket.
*NEW* Peanut Butter Smuggler (non-alcoholic) – $8
with hot honey, lime juice, raspberry, and peanut butter syrups
This and the cocktail below are named in honor of Yuri Ismaylov, fan-favorite redeemed villain who, well, smuggled peanut butter.
We would probably not drink more than a sip of this, but we did enjoy the sip that we had. It tastes almost like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but with mostly jelly. It has almost too much raspberry.
The flavor is very tart on the front, but we enjoyed the aftertaste the more we thought about it. It’s worth a try if you’re in a group that’s drinking and you want something comparable without alcohol.
*NEW* Peanut Butter Smuggler – $16.50 for 20 oz. souvenir cup, $12.50 for souvenir refill or 12 oz. single serve
New Amsterdam Vodka with hot honey, lime juice, raspberry, and peanut butter syrups
This did not taste like we thought it would. It tastes like peanut butter and jelly, just like the non-alcoholic version, but we’ve had better PB&J cocktails. We didn’t hate it, but we don’t think we could drink a whole glass.
If you’re into trying weird stuff, you might like this.
*NEW* Murray’s Brain Tonic – $16.50 for 20 oz. souvenir cup, $12.50 for souvenir refill or 12 oz. single serve
New Amsterdam vodka, peach brandy, triple sec, club soda, grapefruit juice, and lemon bitters, garnished with dried grapefruit
Oh, Murray. This drink is a version of the conspiracy theorist’s vodka soda, first introduced in season 2. Since some of the conspiracies proved true, maybe he’s onto something.
We were disappointed this didn’t include brains. It’s not overly sweet, but you have to like brandy to enjoy this. The brandy flavor is not masked at all.
Voodoo Brewing Co. Lacto-Kooler (5.5% ABV) – $12.25
From Voodoo Brewing Co.: “Lacto-Kooler is our flavored Berliner Weisse. We made this sour ale with lots of “green” giving the beer its unique color and flavor.”
Original Sin Crimson Chaos Cider (6% ABV) – $10
From Original Sin: “Crimson Chaos was created by marrying two cherry varieties with a melody of luscious berries. The ruby red and maroon cherries introduce a balance of earthy tartness giving great depth of flavor. The berries create bursts of zest that dance on your tongue and, when combined with the cherries, result in an unforgettable joyous punch to the palate. This fruit forward blend is smooth throughout with a subtly tartness that tingles on the finish.”
