The Disneyland Candlelight Processional, a long-standing holiday tradition for the park, will be available for a limited number of guests to watch on only a select few nights this holiday season.
Disneyland Candlelight Processional Dates
The Candlelight Processional, according to the Orange County Register, will be returning to Disneyland Park for the holidays on December 2 and 3, 2023.
The event features a celebrity narrator to tell the story of Christmas between holiday songs performed by a choir filled with hundreds of voices. Unlike the Walt Disney World version, which rotates through more than a dozen celebrity narrators over the course of the holiday season, the Disneyland Candlelight Processional is more limited engagement for just a couple of nights. The celebrity narrator for the event is kept a secret until the first night of the event.
Seating for the event is generally reserved for VIP guests due to the limited run and capacity of the processional.
More About The Disneyland Candlelight Processional
The Disneyland Candlelight Processional began in 1958 as a thank-you from Walt Disney himself to the community that supports Disneyland, his first park. This tradition continues to this day, and the event is held on a stage in front of the Disneyland Train Station for a seated, invitation-only group of community members, elected officials, civic leaders, members of the media, and other VIP ticket-holders.
Each year, guests wait in line (many all day) for the limited standing-room-only space to view the event from behind the seated area. For guests who do not want to wait in line, the Candlelight Processional can be heard throughout Main Street, U.S.A.
With the park still open to day guests during the performance, and a large section of the area in front of the Disneyland Railroad Main Street Station filled with a stage and hundreds of chairs, logistics of park paths must be adjusted during the performance. Backstage routes around the area are typically open, and several attractions, including the Disneyland Railroad, close operations to accommodate the event.
