A scale model of Disneyland as it appeared on opening day is now on display at Walt Disney Presents in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This Disneyland scale model was commissioned for the original park’s 50th anniversary back in 2005. It was previously on display in the Disneyland Opera House, outside Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln.
Disneyland Scale Model
The model is on display in a case where there once was a recreation of Walt Disney’s office. The office display was removed in 2015 and the case was covered in Disneyland concept art.
The model is displayed at an angle, so guests can view it in its entirety. There is information about the five original lands — Frontierland; Adventureland; Main Street, U.S.A.; Fantasyland; and Tomorrowland — at the bottom of the display. Since opening day, New Orleans Square and Critter Country have been added off of Frontierland. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Mickey’s Toontown were constructed at the back of the park.
The model includes artwork of Disneyland Hotel off to the left.
A dirt lot to the right represents much of Tomorrowland, which was still under construction when Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955. There are tiny figures of people pouring into the front of the park from a gray parking lot that no longer exists.
