Among the new menu items added across Disney’s Animal Kingdom today, October 11, are two new lunch options at Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery. Which one was a hit, and were there any misses? Read on for our review.
Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery
Impossible Gatsby – $10.29
pita pocket filled with a plant-based picadillo, tomato-pepper relish, and crispy potato sticked stopped with a plant-based aÏoli served with seasoned house-made chips
The “meat” in the Impossible Gatsby has a chili-like flavor with a kick. That kick gets cooled with the creaminess from the avocado spread, but they mix well.
As far as the breading, ours was not soft. The pita pocket is a bit harder than traditional pita bread, and we think this would have been better if a softer wrap was used instead.
The house-made chips have a nice crunch to each bite.
For one person, we think this is a good option that’s on the lighter side. The chips, however, can definitely be shared.
Harissa Chicken Wrap – $10.49
harissa chicken salad with vegetables and an avocado spread in a spinach tortilla served with seasoned house-made chips
This is the best new menu item we’ve had at the park all day. We loved it. The vegetables in the wrap are refreshingly cold, and add a nice texture.
A hint of spice was present in the overall flavor of the wrap, but it’s not spicier than the plant-based Italian sausage we had from Pizzafari earlier in the day.
The chicken is juicy, and blends well with the vegetables. Like the Impossible Gatsby, this also comes with house-made chips that are really crunchy.
Overall, this dish is a good portion and a sharable size, and we highly recommend it. We would come back and get it again.
