Combined Disney+ and Hulu App to Launch in Beta This December

The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger announced on CNBC with the release of the company’s Q4 financial results that they would launch a combined app for Disney+ and Hulu in beta this December.

Iger announced the combined app during the Q2 2023 earnings call, only saying it would launch later this year. The streaming services are still expected to have their own separate apps in addition to the combined app.

The combined Disney+ and Hulu app will leave beta sometime in 2024.

We are basically putting it in beta so that we can prepare parents, largely, to basically implement parental controls, because you’ll be able to access Hulu programming on the same app […] We found that where we bundle, we lower churn. And again, these are steps that are all taken to make [streaming] a great business.

Disney+ reached 150 million subscribers in Q4, which ended on September 30, 2023. This was up from 146.7 million the previous quarter. Read more about Disney’s streaming numbers.
