After canceling their free-to-play plans a few days ago, Disney Dreamlight Valley streamed a showcase Wednesday morning with a whole host of new announcements for the game, which officially launches on December 5, 2023.
Disney Dreamlight Valley December Update
First up, the Disney Dreamlight Valley album with music from the game is now available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music Unlimited, and Pandora. Click here to listen.
Disney Dreamlight Valley will be closing out 2023 with a big update on December 5. Jack Skellington will be integrated as a character into the world who can move into your valley.
The update will include a winter Star Path featuring iconic Disney Princess looks, like Belle’s pink and red winter outfit.
This update will include the highly-anticipated multiplayer option with Valleyverse. Friends will be able to visit each other, exchange items, and purchase items from each other’s stores. Game Manager Manea also confirms this is just the beginning of multiplayer offerings.
As the update will also coincide with the game leaving early access, there will be various other fixes and improvements.
As previously announced, all Founders who have played the game in early access will get new cosmetic items and 2,500 moonstones.
Disney Dreamlight Valley shared a roadmap for next year’s updates. At the beginning of 2024, a “Monsters, Inc.” realm with Mike and Sulley will open up.
Tiana will join the game in the summer. The early and late spring updates hint at the possible additions of Daisy Duck and Mulan. Every update will have a new Star Path.
Disney Dreamlight Valley Expansion
Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time, the game’s first paid expansion, will also become available on December 5. The expansion takes guests to Eternity Isle featuring three new biomes: Ancient’s Landing, Glittering Dunes, and the Wild Tangle.
The story of A Rift in Time will see players facing off against Jafar. Act One will begin with the December release, while Acts Two and Three will be released in 2024.
The first act of A Rift in Time will introduce EVE from “WALL-E,” Gaston from “Beauty and the Beast,” and Rapunzel from “Tangled.” There will be new friendship rewards and players will be able to play a board game with Disney characters. Players will uncover a new royal tool, the Royal Hourglass, which helps find treasure. There will also be new foods, furniture, and critters.
A game-changing element of the expansion will be Ancient Machines. These craftable items can automate farming and other sandbox gameplay, improving efficiency.
Players can download two free gift bundles in honor of the showcase celebration: a balloon arch and balloon clusters with the code DDVBALLOON, and new ears with DDVHEADBAND.

While not mentioned during the stream, we noticed that the background included Miss Tilly from Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon was in the background. This could be a tease for a future decoration added to Disney Dreamlight Valley, or just simply background art for the livestream.
