Crews have hung new pieces of scrim featuring the Earth on the “Luminous: The Symphony of Us” barges in the World Showcase Lagoon at EPCOT.
‘Luminous’ Barges
Unlike the “Harmonious” barges, the “Luminous” barges will not sit in the lagoon all day. They will move in and out for the nighttime spectacular.
The barges have been out during the day as they are tested. “Luminous” fireworks testing took place overnight on November 1 and will again take place on November 14.
The new pieces of scrim fit the triangular shape of the barges.
From another angle, we could see that what almost looks like shadows on the scrim are actually depictions of the North American continent and other land masses.
More scrims may be added to other barges, allowing them to put pieces of the Earth together during the show.
‘Luminous: The Symphony of Us’
“Luminous: The Symphony of Us” is replacing “EPCOT Forever.” The latter is a temporary show that originally ran between the final performance of “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” and the first performance of “Harmonious.”
“IllumiNations” ran from 1999 to 2019. “Harmonious” debuted on October 1, 2021, for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. It had its final performance on April 2, 2023, after which “EPCOT Forever” returned for another temporary run.
“Luminous” was supposed to debut for the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company, which took place on October 16, 2023, but was delayed, possibly due to the musical score. It will instead debut on December 5, 2023.
“Luminous” fireworks dining packages will be available at Rose & Crown and Spice Road Table.
