The Mark Twain animatronic appearing on the torch of the Statue of Liberty during the finale sequence of The American Adventure at EPCOT has suffered some dramatic damage, but the show went on in front of guests at EPCOT.
Mark Twain Animatronic Malfunctions
The American Adventure pavilion houses a show that details an inspiring, rose-colored-glasses version of the history of America hosted by Mark Twain and Benjamin Franklin. Tonight, however, the patriotic tale was overshadowed by an animatronic disfiguring accident.
Twain smoked his cigar like normal, except his head was no longer on correctly.
Mark Twain’s face is twisted around almost backward, but the animatronic still otherwise performed his movements flawlessly. The finale scene between Benjamin Franklin with no indication that anything is wrong and the horrifying Twain left the audience with a feeling more frightening than inspiring.
