Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith Closing for Extended Refurbishment

If you are planning a Walt Disney World vacation in early 2024, you may not be able to ride one of the world’s fastest “super stretch” limousines. One of the most popular attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is closing in January for scheduled maintenance.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is on the park calendar through January 7th, 2024, and then is listed as unavailable starting January 8th. The calendar lists the attraction as unavailable through at least the end of February of 2024.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Issues

The thrilling roller coaster was closed for extended refurbishment in early 2023, closing in February and not reopening until May 26th. During its 2023 closure, rumors swirled of a re-theme or major changes, or even the replacement of Aerosmith, but those rumors did not come to fruition. Instead, the ride reopened unchanged, save some missing signed artwork in the ride’s exit hallway.

Work was performed on the track and inside the gravity building, as well as some general paint refreshing during that 2023 refurbishment. The aging, yet complicated launch system has allegedly been the cause of extensive maintenance in the past as well, but it is unknown if this refurbishment is intended to address this, or if the aging ride is simply in need of more and more attention each year.
