The lettering that once let guests know they were entering the Shades of Green Resort area has now been entirely removed at Walt Disney World Resort.
Shades of Green Main Entrance Sign Removed
All that’s left of the resort’s signage is the rockwork that the lettering was placed on. Prior to the removal, the sign read “Shades of Green” with “on Walt Disney World Resort” in smaller letters beneath it. Beneath that read, “Disney’s Palm, Magnolia, Oak Trail, Golf Courses.
Here’s a look at what the sign looked like before the letters were removed within the past day or two. There is no word on when or if an updated sign will take its place.
Located on the corner of Floridian Way and W Magnolia Palm Drive, Shades of Green isn’t the only thing getting worked on, as major road work is currently being done in the area.
It’s possible that the rockwork of the former sign will be demolished, but we hope they will reinstall the sign on a new base after the road work is completed.
Shades of Green, located near Magic Kingdom, is a military-owned and operated resort on Walt Disney World property. The resort has been going through several changes as of late. In April, the walkway between Shades of Green and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort closed permanently. In October of 2023, the resort began a years-long roof replacement project. According to the Shades of Green site:
The Shades of Green Roof Replacement Project is slated to start in mid-October 2023. To minimize disruption to our guests, this project will be executed in phases, with work taking place in different sections of the hotel at different times. This approach will allow us to maintain a comfortable and enjoyable environment for our guests throughout the duration of the project. It is anticipated to be completed by October 2025.
