Construction walls were moved back more behind the Frontierland train station of Magic Kingdom as construction continues on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Part of the flagstone walkway opened in mid-December. Crew members have also been working on the ride’s mountain façade, where they removed some scaffolding the week of Christmas.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Construction

The new fake trees in front of the mountain are now covered in leafy branches and Spanish moss.

We saw a ladder leaning against one tree as crews touched up the details. The ground around the trees is red dirt and there is a small construction box next to the tree.

These kinds of boxes usually hide materials like wiring before a light is installed.

In the backstory of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the princess has founded the co-op Tiana’s Foods, which operates out of an old salt mine.

The Tiana’s Foods water tower was one of the first major set pieces installed for the attraction.

Some crew members were working on a tree in front of the millhouse, where the ride ascends the mountain.

Atop the front of the millhouse — just barely visible amid scaffolding in these pictures — is the new weathervane crafted by a Louisiana master blacksmith.

The front of the millhouse received green paint a few weeks ago, but that paint is now barely visible behind the tree’s leaves and moss.

The weathervane was installed overnight, but it looks like crew members were securing it this morning.

The mountain itself is now covered in moss, green grass, and white flowers.

The extra trees and foliage are to make the former Splash Mountain look more like a Louisiana bayou.

The left side of the mountain has been mostly untouched during the construction process. It still looks like a reddish rock cliffside.

We saw crew members touching up some of the mountain’s details and also heard work inside.

Though scaffolding was removed from the front of the mountain top, there is still scaffolding over the top and in front of the opening for the ride’s drop.

During our Friday visit, we saw several crew members emerge from the mountain’s opening.

It looked like they may have been moving construction materials.

Scaffolding continues around the side of the mountain towards the train station.

This scaffolding appears to have been adjusted to make room for more flowers.

The entrance to the ride goes under the train station, so construction walls have surrounded it during work. The station remains open.

We saw several crew members on the new exit staircase of the train station. The staircase was completely demolished and rebuilt, with guests exiting the station through the entrance during work.

It looks like additional lights have been installed on the staircase.

Rolling planters are staged near the train station entrance.

There’s scoring in the pavement here, suggesting it will be replaced soon.

Scrim covers the bottom of the train station that guests walk under to go behind it.

A restroom is the only thing behind the train station for guests to access right now, but the shifting construction walls give us better views of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure construction.

This red rectangle of pavement will presumably be replaced by themed flagstone and brick pavement at some point.

From the walkway, we saw crew members on the mountain adjusting tarps.

The brown wood picket fence is a relatively recent addition to the mountain.

These construction walls were moved back, and the corner where the walls meet now sits in a loop of rocks.

The ground here hasn’t been torn up and replaced.

We noticed a worn chalk line on the ground.

The words “scope of work” were visible next to the line.

We could hear more construction behind the walls.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open late this year at Magic Kingdom and at Disneyland.
