‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ Tentative Release Date Announced

The next “Star Wars” series, “The Acolyte,” will premiere this summer and Collider has announced a tentative release date for the series.

“The Acolyte” is currently scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on June 5, 2024. When Collider reached out to Disney, representatives did not confirm or deny the date.

This would put the premiere just over a month after the series finale of “Star Wars: The Bad Batch.” The final season of the animated series premiered on Wednesday.

Collider also confirmed that Michael Abels is composing for the series. Abels is most known for working on Jordan Peele’s films “Get Out,” “Us,” and “Nope.” He also composed the opera “Omar” with Rhiannon Giddens, for which they won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Music.

“The Acolyte” is set at the end of the High Republic era of the “Star Wars” universe, about 100 years before “The Phantom Menace.” It stars Amandla Stenberg as a former padawan who reunites with her old Jedi Master, played by Lee Jung-jae, to investigate a series of crimes. The show is created by Leslye Headland, co-creator of “Russian Doll.”

We saw photos from “The Acolyte” set back in December 2022 and the first footage from the series was shown at Star Wars Celebration last April.
