‘Alien: Romulus’ Gets New Official Poster and Teaser Trailer

Sci-fi fans got their first taste of “Alien: Romulus” today with both a new poster and teaser trailer for the upcoming film.

‘Alien: Romulus’

Directed by Fede Álvarez (“Evil Dead” [2013], “Don’t Breathe”), the new film in the “Alien” franchise stars Isabela Merced (“Madame Web”), Cailee Spaeny (“Pricilla”), Archie Renaux (“Shadow and Bone”), David Jonsson (‘Rye Lane”), Spike Fearn (“Aftersun”), and Aileen Wu. The official synopsis of the film from IMDB describes “Alien: Romulus” as:

Young people from a distant world must face the most terrifying life form in the universe.

Alien Romulus Teaser Poster

The poster, while minimalistic, shows the horror that awaits the film’s stars in the dark — a drooling xenomorph, bearing its sharp teeth.

The film’s teaser trailer leans hard into the franchise’s horror origins. After following a tracking shot through the hallways of an empty space station, fans can easily pick out the warning siren from the original “Alien,” set against the screams of the ship’s passengers before an ominous warning to, “Run.”

The screenplay for “Alien: Romulus” is written by Álvarez and frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues (“Don’t Breathe 2”), based upon characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett, per ComicBook.com.

“Alien: Romulus” is produced by Ridley Scott, director of the original film and series’ entries “Prometheus” and “Alien: Covenant”; Michael Pruss (“Boston Strangler”); and Walter Hill (“Alien”). Álvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon (“Charlie’s Angels”), Brent O’Connor (“Bullet Train”), and Tom Moran (“Unstoppable”) serve as executive producers.

The film hits theaters on August 16, 2024. Are you excited to see horror return to the “Alien” franchise? Let us know what you think of the teaser trailer and poster in the comments.
