The new limited-time Magic Key-exclusive “movie night” event premiered at Disney California Adventure this Monday.
Magic Key “Movie Night”
The event is in the courtyard next to Hyperion Theater from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. March 11 – 14 and March 18 – 21.
In the courtyard, Magic Key holders can enjoy photo ops and character meet and greets.
There was also a unicycling juggler and a magician.
One of the photo ops is a Disneyland Resort Magic Key backdrop of colorful blocks.
Magic Key Magnet
Magic Key holders can pick up this magnet featuring art by Asia Ellington. Cast Members scan your Magic Key pass when you pick up your magnet, and Key holders are limited to one magnet.
The design features a yellow-gold frame with filigree and the Magic Key logo. In the center, Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto are pictured enjoying their own movie night. That image can be popped out if you want to stick your own photo behind the frame.
The artwork on the magnet draws from the recent “Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” cartoons. As a sign states, Ellington was a character designer for the series and has worked on several other Disney Television Animation projects.
The magnet is available while supplies last.
Character Meet and Greets
“Mulan” characters appear on a red carpet in front of trees with paper lanterns around them. The characters periodically switch. We saw Mushu, Li Shang, and Mulan in her soldier gear.
Sometimes, they appear in pairs, but sometimes, a character is by themselves.
On the other side of the courtyard are “Alice in Wonderland” characters meeting guests in front of a Tulgey Wood backdrop. We saw Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.
The White Rabbit also made an appearance.
The original “movie night” announcement indicated only “Mulan” and “Alice in Wonderland” characters will appear during the event.
