‘Wish’ Coming to Disney+ Next Month

The most recent Walt Disney Animation Studios film, “Wish,” will be added to Disney+ next month, almost five months after its theatrical release.

“Wish” will be available to stream on Disney+ beginning on April 3, 2024.

“Wish” underperformed at the box office when it was released in November 2023 for the Thanksgiving holiday. It barely broke even on production costs, still not making enough to be considered financially successful. Promotion was affected by the SAG-AFTRA strikes last year but it saw a significant push in Disney Parks with Asha meet and greets, a complimentary “Wish” poster for Walt Disney World Annual Passholders, popcorn buckets and sippers, a Spaceship Earth light show, a “World of Color” pre-show, and merchandise.

The film follows Asha (Ariana DeBose), a 17-year-old trying to save the Kingdom of Rosas from a growing darkness, and tells the origin story of the wishing star. Chris Pine voices King Magnifico and Alan Tudyk voices Asha’s goat friend Valentino. “Wish” was released as the culmination of the Disney 100 Years of Wonder celebration, honoring the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company.
