The first Anaheim City Council vote for DisneylandForward will take place tomorrow, April 16.
After previously being approved by the Anaheim Planning Commission on March 11, the vote will now go to the Anaheim City Council. This is the first time the Anaheim City Council will vote on the projected Disneyland expansion. It will take place during their regularly-scheduled meeting at 5 p.m. PST. You can view the agenda for the meeting here, and can watch the meeting streaming live on the Anaheim Meetings Youtube Channel on April 16.
First announced in 2021, DisneylandForward is a decades-long proposed expansion of the park, which would include things like new lands, entertainment, hotels, shopping, and dining. The rezoning that the Anaheim Planning Commission approved in March must go before the Anaheim City Council for a vote tomorrow before again being voted on in City Council meeting on May 7. If approved for the second time in May, the plan would go into effect 30 days after that approval.
In their proposal, Disney has committed to spending $2.5 billion on the expansion, with $1.9 billion of that being spent within the first 10 years if approved. As for the rest of the spending, $30 million would go toward affordable housing in the area, $10 would be for sewer improvements along Katella Avenue, and $8 million would be given to Anaheim parks.
