A collection of new Dueling Dragons merchandise is now available at Universal Orlando Resort. It’s similar in design to the Halloween Horror Nights merchandise from 2023, which was available for Annual Passholders, as the house and the extinct attraction share the same characters and backstory.
Dueling Dragons Glass – $12
The glass features art of Pyrock and Blizzrock with “Choose Thy Fate” above them and “Dueling Dragons” below. The “Os” in “choose” have a line running vertically through the center to look like dragon eyes.
Poster – $15
The same art of the dragons is used on the poster, set in front of the silhouette of an eerie castle. Bones and skulls lie at their feet. There’s lightning in the sky below the “Choose Thy Fate” banner.
Candle – $26
The same art is on the lid of the scented candle. It smells like a mix of smoke and florals.
Like the other merchandise, the “Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights 2023” and “UOAP” logos have been removed, but the designs otherwise remain unchanged.
T-shirt – $30
The banner that used to have the HHN logo now just reads “Universal Orlando” and the sleeve that had the Annual Passholder logo is blank.
“Choose Thy Fate” is in large text on the back.
Hoodie – $55
The hoodie has the same art as the t-shirt, but the design is swapped. “Choose Thy Fate” is on the front over the large kangaroo pocket, while the dragon artwork is on the back.
Dueling Dragons
Dueling Dragons was a roller coaster in the Merlinwood area of the Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure. It featured two dueling tracks — red for the fire dragon Pyrock and blue for the ice dragon Blizzrock. Pyrock and Blizzrock were warlocks cursed into dragon form when they attempted to steal Merlin’s spellbook. Guests could choose which side to support by getting in line for either blue or red.
It became Dragon Challenge when the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade took over the land, and eventually stopped dueling in 2011 due to two separate incidents where riders were injured by objects falling from riders on the other track. Ultimately, it was permanently closed in 2017 and demolished to make way for Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, which opened in 2019.
The attraction’s backstory was revived, and the queue was mostly recreated for a haunted house at Halloween Horror Nights 32 called Dueling Dragons: Choose Thy Fate.
