We first learned a new projection show was in development when music director Ron Colvard added it to his website. Tokyo Disneyland announced the show in January. It will premiere on Friday, September 20, 2024. The show will bring “many of our beloved characters to life as they soar through the night sky in pursuit of their dreams.”

Iron Man and Captain Marvel will both appear in the show, marking the first-ever appearance of Marvel characters in a Tokyo Disney Resort entertainment program.

Along with the superheroes, “Reach for the Stars” will feature Tinker Bell, Hercules and Pegasus, Dumbo, Carl Frederickson from “Up,” Aladdin and Jasmine, WALL-E and Eve, Baymax and Hiro, and Woody and Buzz Lightyear. The name of the show is in part a reference to Woody’s voice box dialogue, “Reach for the sky.”

Concept art features the characters flying around Cinderella Castle. The icon is lit with colorful projections and pyrotechnics.

A description shared by Tokyo Disney Resort reads:

Beyond the distant sky,
There was a sparkling castle above the clouds.
It’s a dream-like place where many stories dwell.
Now, let yourself be carried by the winds of freedom,
Spread the wings of imagination,
And let’s soar to the world of dreams!
Reach for the Stars!

The 20-minute show will be performed at Tokyo Disneyland 1 – 2 times daily. It will use Disney Premiere Access.

Colvard’s other Disney projects include Disneyland Forever and World of Color — ONE. His website also listed a Hong Kong Disneyland 20th anniversary parade, which has yet to be announced.
