Tortuga Tavern at Magic Kingdom has been closed since at least Friday, June 7, with no reopening date available.
Tortuga Tavern Closed
The quick-service restaurant is located across from Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland. Guests can still walk into the dining area to relax in the shade.
The restaurant’s menus are covered with panels reading: “Ahoy matey’s, out plundering and pillaging we be… Enjoy the grub at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe.” Pecos Bill is located in Frontierland.
The cash register podiums are covered in tarps.
The kitchen windows are covered in black fabric.
The Tortuga Tavern page of the Walt Disney World website lists no operating hours for the foreseeable future. On the My Disney Experience app, the restaurant is listed as “Closed.”
Disney announced a new Pirates of the Caribbean tavern at Destination D23 last year. The new lounge space will expand the attraction’s story and include Peg-Leg Pete, a.k.a. the Barker Bird. The character greeted guests at the ride’s entrance from 1973 to 2006. Further details — including a location — have not been announced, but Tortuga Tavern may be closed to be turned into the new tavern.
