News has been released about the two upcoming Avengers movies. Avengers 5 will be called Avengers: Doomsday, featuring the just-announced Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr.
Avengers: Doomsday
“Avengers: Doomsday” will be directed by the Russo Brothers. The Fantastic Four cast has been confirmed to star as well. The movie will be released in May 2026.
Avengers 5 was originally slated to be “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” but after Kang actor Jonathan Majors was fired, the MCU has had to abruptly adjust the trajectory of the franchise. The studio parted ways with Majors following a guilty verdict for reckless assault and harassment.
Downey Jr. was confirmed during the Marvel Studios panel to play the MCU’s version of Doctor Doom, an infamous antagonist usually associated with The Fantastic Four. It appears he will be taking over as the Phase 6 villain.
Avengers: Secret Wars
A new logo was also revealed for “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Both the Russo Brothers and the Fantastic Four cast were confirmed today to be in the movie as well. The movie will be released a year after “Avengers: Doomsday,” in May 2027.
