Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom.
Robert Downey Jr. to Become Doctor Doom
Downey Jr. was revealed after removing a Doctor Doom mask, as seen below in the video from Marvel Studios, at San Diego Comic-Con on July 27.
Best known for his role as Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Downey Jr. is making a return after Stark’s death in the 2019 “Avengers: Endgame.”
At this time, Downey Jr.’s Doom is set to star in “Avengers: Doomsday,” though rumors indicate he may appear at least as a cameo/teaser in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” Doctor Doom is one of the major villains associated with the Fantastic Four, who have also been confirmed to return for “Doomsday” and the following “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Both films will see the return of the Russo Brothers as directors, and other cast members from the Marvel Cinematic Universe are expected to co-star.
