A woman is facing criminal charges after she was accused of drunkenly trying to take her toddler to see Cinderella Castle.

Guest Arrested on the Way to Cinderella Castle

Suzan Shimmary, 36, of Michigan, arrived at the Transportation and Ticket Center in an Uber on June 3, according to her arrest report released by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The Uber driver was worried because Shimmary appeared to be “heavily intoxicated” and flagged down an off-duty sheriff’s deputy, the report said.

The deputy found Shimmary pushing a wheelchair with a toddler, the report said.

“I immediately detected the distinct and sustained odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the female’s person. The odor got stronger each time the female spoke,” the deputy wrote in the arrest report. “The female was uneasy on her feet and was swaying. The female also slurred her words while speaking and had to be asked to repeat herself multiple times. The female stated she was trying to take her daughter to princess’s castle.”

The report added, “Out of concern for the female’s intoxication level and safety of the child, another Deputy then had a Disney security manager respond.”

Authorities asked Shimmary several times to contact a rideshare company to leave the park. 

She refused and instead began recording them on her phone.

A deputy handcuffed her and led her to his nearby patrol car.

Shimmary tried to stop moving, the report said.

“As I was walking past an aluminum pole, she then raised her left foot and placed it against the aluminum pole, in attempts [sic] from trying to stop walking. Once I got her left foot off the pole, she then tried to wrap her right foot against a plastic pole with attempts of not moving,” the arrest report said. “Once I got the female’s foot unwrapped from the pole, I began walking her to the patrol vehicle where she continued to try to stop walking.”

A sheriff’s office deputy arrested her for disorderly intoxication, resisting an officer without violence, and trespassing on property after warning.

Shimmary pleaded not guilty last month, according to Orange Circuit Court records.

She is represented by the public defender’s office. Her attorney did not respond to a request for comment.

Shimmary’s toddler was turned over to the Florida Department of Children and Families when she was arrested, the sheriff’s report said.
