Disney World Guests Must Update App to Use Lightning Lane Multi Pass

Ahead of the Genie+ rebranding to Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Walt Disney World guests using My Disney Experience are being prompted to update the app to use new features.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass App Update

A screen displaying a message advising users to update the My Disney Experience app to the latest version to access all Lightning Lane Multi Pass features, with "Upgrade Now" and "Close" buttons.

We received this message when we opened My Disney Experience on Friday.

Important Information

To take full advantage of all of the Lightning Lane features in the My Disney Experience app, we encourage you to upgrade to the latest version.

Users are then prompted to “Upgrade Now” or “Close.” If you close the message and don’t update the app, it will continue to pop up each time you open My Disney Experience.

When Genie+ is rebranded to Lightning Lane Multi Pass, the service will also allow for advance purchases and reservations at Walt Disney World, operating similarly to the former free FastPass+. See the full list of Walt Disney World attractions available via Genie+ / Multi Pass.

Advance purchases and reservations will not be available to guests outside the U.S. and Canada.

Individual Lightning Lane will become Lightning Lane Single Pass, which will be available for these Walt Disney World attractions:

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • TRON Lightcycle / Run
  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
  • Avatar Flight of Passage

The rebrand will happen at Disneyland Resort but services will not be available in advance.

The rebrand and advance options will go into effect on July 24, 2024.
